Bentley Golf Day 2019: £2000 raised - in spite of the weather!

Bentley Golf Club was the venue for the first of our Charity Golf Days where 62 golfers gathered to enjoy a course which, despite the lack of any appreciable rain, was in excellent condition. The weather forecast for the day did not inspire much confidence but having enjoyed coffee and bacon rolls, the field set off for a 9 hole Texas Scramble. After a light lunch the early groups teed off for an 18 hole individual and team Stableford competition but no sooner had they done so than the heavens opened and within 10 minutes ducks were surfing and swimming on the 4th green and the 18th green had been transformed into a pond. The club professional then closed the course declaring it unplayable!

Thus it was that the golf came to a premature and sad conclusion but in the prevailing spirit of the day everyone stayed on for an earlier than planned four course evening meal. Thanks to the generosity of Bentley GC, all of the golfers who braved the elements and some additional evening guests the event managed to raise the magnificent sum of £2,000 for Kids in Need. Our sincere thanks go to everyone for their support, tolerance and kindness on what proved to be a wet and frustrating day.

Thank you everyone who attended the 2018 Kids in Need Ball. £12,500 was raised off the back of the event.
Our chairman Marc Pinkus gave an address on the night but also provided this statement as part of the event programme:

Dear Friends

Welcome to the 2018 Kids In Need Charity Ball, and on behalf of the Committee and all those that have helped to make this event possible, we wish you a very enjoyable and fun-filled evening.

Once again we all gather, this time to celebrate 36 years of Kids In Need and all that we do in granting wishes for the most deserving children. In 2018 we have hosted two hugely successful golf days and received charitable donations from those that have run, those that have swum and those that have cycled......In some cases they’ve done all three!

I’ve had the distinct honour of chairing this Committee for almost a year and I know I speak for all of them when I say that none of what we do would be possible without the support and encouragement we receive from you, our incredible supporters. So a huge “THANK YOU” for all that you do and for helping us to bring some happiness to the children that we in turn support.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our Trustees and the whole of my outstanding committee who, as dedicated volunteers work so hard all year round not just granting wishes but also finding the time to create this amazing event.

Wishing you all a wonderful evening.

Marc Pinkus Chairman
